Some sessions just fill your heart — and this one absolutely did.

I had the joy of photographing two incredible dogs and their lovely owner at the stunning Muriwai Forest. With golden light peeking through the trees and long grass swaying around us, it was the perfect backdrop for capturing these pups just being themselves.

The first star of the session was a beautiful beagle — a retired airport dog with a curious nose and the funniest little expressions. You could still see that sharp, clever working-dog spark in his eyes as he explored every scent and sound around us.

Beside him was the sweetest Collie x Schnauzer, gentle-natured and full of quiet charm. While the beagle bounced around with excited energy, this gorgeous mix brought a calm balance, happily posing, staying close to his person, and giving the softest little looks straight at the camera.

Two completely different personalities, but each so lovable in their own way — and together, they made the session truly special. We wandered through the forest, followed dog-led adventures, paused in patches of light, and captured everything from playful moments to the soft, soulful portraits that show just how much these dogs mean to their owner.

It was relaxed, heartwarming, and full of wagging tails, muddy paws, and so much love. These are the kinds of sessions that remind me why I adore what I do — capturing the bond between pets and their humans in the most natural, joyful way.
