There’s something truly magical about capturing a maternity session in the forest — the stillness, the soft light, and the feeling that a new chapter is unfolding right in front of you. This beautiful session was no exception.

I’ve had the honour of photographing this family multiple times over the years, and every session feels like reconnecting with old friends. Watching families grow is one of the greatest joys of my job, and being invited back to document such important milestones means the world to me.

This time, we were celebrating the sweetest new chapter — mum, dad, and their soon-to-be big brother preparing to welcome their newest addition.

We chose Muriwai Forest for its calm, earthy beauty and the way the tall trees wrap around you like a big warm hug. It’s a place that feels peaceful and grounded, which made it the perfect setting for this moment in their story.

The entire session was wonderfully relaxed. We wandered through the forest trails, stopping wherever the light fell just right. Big brother was full of energy and excitement, proudly showing off his soon-to-be big brother status. Mum and dad shared quiet, love-filled moments, holding onto each other and soaking in the last little bit of time before their family grows by one more heart.

There were cuddles, giggles, sweet belly moments, and so much genuine connection — the kind you don’t have to pose, because it simply shines through on its own.

These images are a timeless reminder of a chapter filled with anticipation, love, and the beautiful in-between — the days before meeting their little one, when everything feels soft and full of hope.
