Depending on your session will depend on what I suggest you bring. When you book with me, you’ll receive a guide that goes into all of this in more detail, but as a general “what to bring” list, these are the things I always recommend.
Water and snacks for the kids
Keeping little ones happy makes a big difference. Bring water and some easy snacks to keep energy levels up, especially for longer sessions.
A little bribery never hurts
Think small, easy-to-eat treats like M&M’s, Skittles, or little biscuits. I recommend avoiding lollipops or hard-to-eat treats, as these can affect the photos (sticky faces and coloured tongues!). I always have lollipops or a lolly ready as an end-of-session treat.
A change of clothes
Especially important for beach sessions! Kids love the sand and water, so having spare clothes (and even spare underwear) can be a lifesaver.
Towel and jandals (if at the beach)
Perfect for quick clean-ups, sandy feet, and making the trip home more comfortable.
Any props you’d like included
For maternity sessions, this could be things like ultrasound photos, baby shoes, or special keepsakes.
For family sessions, think about a favourite cuddly toy, a blanket, or even a photo or item that honours a loved one who has passed. These personal touches can make your images even more meaningful.
Wipes and tissues
Great for quick clean-ups, runny noses, sandy hands, or sticky fingers between shots.
Comfort items for younger children
If your child has a special toy or comfort item they love, bring it along. Even if it’s not in the final photos, it can help them feel relaxed and happy during the session.
Sunscreen or a light jacket (depending on the weather)
Outdoor sessions can change quickly, so it’s always good to be prepared — especially for little ones.
If you’re ever unsure about what to bring for your specific session, just ask — I’m always happy to help you feel prepared, relaxed, and confident on the day.
