I recently shared that at Memories with Mel, you have the option when booking to select restricted sharing on images. This means I will only share what is approved by you. For some parents, this looks like not sharing their child’s face online.
I completely understand this decision. If I know about this prior to the session, there are actually a lot of options available. So I wanted to share this blog to give a little insight into what the session looks like and the types of photos I would capture and share if you don’t want your child’s face shown.
Firstly, it’s important to highlight that during the session, I still capture all the usual full-face images for your personal use. These are always yours to keep. I also intentionally capture images where your child’s full face isn’t shown, which can be used on my website, social media, and portfolio — and also gives you images you can share if you have a public platform.
This process started with a previous client who is a UGC creator and had stopped sharing her daughter’s face online on her public platform. Although she was happy for me to still share her daughter’s face on my pages, I didn’t feel comfortable doing so if she wasn’t. So at our next session, I began capturing different angles that gave her images she could use publicly, as well as images I could share. Since then, I’ve gotten really good at doing this and have now built it into my process for families who want this option.
Once I have edited and shared the gallery with the client, I send through the images I plan to share online to double-check they are happy and comfortable with them. We all have different perspectives on what feels like “too much” of a child’s face, and my top priority is always that parents feel confident, happy, and comfortable.
Below, you can see some examples from different sessions where the child’s face is not fully shown.
Want to discuss this further for your session? Feel free to message me anytime — I’m always here to chat. Anything that helps you feel more comfortable about having your photos taken is important to me.
