This session felt extra special!

Two years ago, we attempted Athena’s 4th birthday photos… but she just wasn’t feeling it, and we didn’t get any images. So coming back this year and trying again after seeing how much she’s grown and come out of her shell  made this session even more meaningful.

She started off a little shy (which is so normal!), but with a bit of time and letting her lead the way, she really came into her own… and we captured so many beautiful moments.

As with all my birthday sessions, everything is child-led. Athena wanted to climb the trees, so that’s exactly what we did  and then we incorporated the props while she was up there, which made for such fun, natural photos.

It was also a super windy day, so lighting the candle at the table wasn’t quite working. Instead, we moved under the trees where it was a bit more sheltered — and that’s where we got those sweet candle moments.

To finish, she shared her little cake with her big sister, which was just the cutest way to wrap up the session.

Moments like this are such a beautiful reminder of how much kids grow and change. Being able to capture that especially after a session that didn’t quite work out in the past is something really special
