I’ve been photographing Ayla’s birthday sessions every year since she turned five — which means this marks four years of birthday photos for her. Watching her grow and change from that very first session to now has been so special.

This session was captured at Auckland Domain, where we created a beautiful, varied gallery using a range of birthday props and natural backdrops. We captured individual portraits of Ayla, sweet moments with her brother, special photos with their poppa, and of course, a few lovely images with mum too.

Sessions with Ayla are always a joy. She throws herself into every idea, tries all my “crazy” suggestions without hesitation, and we always end up with the best photos because of it.

It’s one of those sessions that really makes you wish time would slow down a little — because childhood truly flies by.
